Why i did what i did…
I created an escape room on the bolivar peninsula…
About Our rooms
More than puzzles. It's your chance to step into the story.
At Bolivar Escape Room, we create family-friendly adventures for all ages inspired by the place we call home—the beautiful Bolivar Peninsula.
Our rooms aren't purchased out of a catalog. We write our own stories, drawing inspiration from Bolivar's history, landmarks, folklore and local life—with a little imagination thrown in along the way.
You won't just solve puzzles. You'll have a mission.
Escape the Shipwreck
Maybe we should have called this one Stop the Shipwreck! The lighthouse has gone dark, a vessel is headed toward danger, and it's up to your team to restore the light and save the day.
Code Red Rescue
Step inside an experience inspired by historic Fort Travis. We've recreated elements of the fort and incorporated real photographs from inside as your team works through a rescue mission rooted right here on Bolivar Peninsula.
Meet the owner
And then there's Malcolm.
Every person with a crazy idea needs someone willing to help turn it into reality. From building, fixing and figuring out “How in the world are we going to make this work?” to listening to my next idea—Malcolm has been part of the adventure behind the scenes.
What started with Escape the Asylum and then Escape the Shipwreck became something much bigger than simply creating puzzles and locking doors.
For me, the best part has always been watching people.
Watching grandparents solve clues with their grandkids. Parents and teenagers work together. Couples compete. Friends laugh. Coworkers discover who really takes charge under pressure. And sometimes watching an entire group stare at something that's been right in front of them for ten minutes!
Some escape. Some don't. That's not really the point.
They did something together.
And more than four years later, that's still why I do what I do.
— Leanne
Bolivar Escape Room didn't start because I had always dreamed of owning an escape room. It started because I saw something missing on the Bolivar Peninsula.
We live in a place where there's no shortage of sunshine, beaches and outdoor fun—but what happens when it's too hot, raining, the kids are tired of the beach, or a family simply wants something different to do together?
I wanted to create that something.
I wanted a place where families, friends and visitors could walk through the door, put their phones away for an hour, laugh together, challenge each other and leave with a memory from their time on Bolivar.
That's how Bolivar Escape Room began.
What Sets Us Apart
Because sometimes you need to do something besides sit around and stare at a screen.
👀 FIND OUT WHO YOUR PEOPLE REALLY ARE
Who's the leader? Who overthinks everything? Who finds the clue everyone else walked past? You'll find out.
🤝 ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING TOGETHER
Not watching something together. Not sitting beside each other on your phones. Working, thinking and playing together.
🏆 GET THAT “WE GOT IT!” FEELING
There's nothing quite like the moment a lock pops open because your team finally figured it out.
🧠 USE YOUR BRAIN
You might be surprised what you can figure out when Google isn't allowed to help.
📵 PUT THE PHONES AWAY
One hour. Face-to-face. No scrolling, texting or social media required.
😂 LAUGH AT EACH OTHER
Someone will spend ten minutes looking for something that's directly in front of them. It might be you.
🌧️ THE WEATHER DOESN'T MATTER
Too hot? Raining? Windy? Had enough beach for one day? We're indoors and air-conditioned.
👨👩👧👦 GRANDKIDS. GRANDPARENTS. AND EVERYONE BETWEEN.
Different ages notice different things. That's actually part of the fun.
🔐 YOU DON'T HAVE TO ESCAPE TO HAVE FUN
Of course you'll want to escape. But the real win is everything that happens during those 60 minutes.
do you REMEMBER HOW TO PLAY?
Sometimes adults need the reminder just as much as kids do.
Pretend. Explore. Get curious. Try something that might not work. Talk face-to-face. Work together.
Some teams escape. Some don't.
But everyone gets the opportunity to step away from everyday life, spend time with the people they're with and create a memory they'll hopefully still be talking about long after their 60 minutes are over.
That's what Bolivar Escape Room is really about.
I particularly like “Remember How to Play?” for your website. It speaks to adults without making the rooms sound childish, and it connects perfectly with what you've been saying throughout the new site about phones, families, communication and doing something together
PUT DOWN THE PHONE. PICK UP A CLUE.
Technology has taken over so much of our everyday lives. For 60 minutes, we ask you to leave it behind.
No Googling the answer. No scrolling. No apps to solve it for you.
Instead, you'll use brainpower, logic, creativity, communication and teamwork to search for clues, crack codes and figure out what comes next.
That's part of what makes an escape room an experiential activity. You aren't sitting back and watching the story—you become part of it.
Work together. Get stuck. Try something else. Laugh at yourselves. Celebrate when something finally clicks.
