Frequently Asked Questions

About us & Escape Rooms

Group of friends celebrating a rescue from an escape room with a sign that reads 'Mission Complete Groom Rescued!' at Fort Travis in Port Bolivar, TX.

What is an Escape Room?

An escape room is an immersive, experiential, interactive adventure where your team works together to find clues, solve puzzles, unlock surprises and complete your mission before time runs out.

Are you inside the Point Bolivar Lighthouse or Fort Travis?

No… we’re NOT inside the historic landmarks!

Our rooms are inspired by the local history, stories, and mystery of the Bolivar Peninsula—but we bring those adventures to life.

No climbing lighthouses required.

Is this good for kids?

Absolutely.

Our rooms are designed for families, but they aren't children's escape rooms—they're designed for everyone.

They are fun and interactive without being scary for younger guests, while still being challenging enough for adults.

Kids wouldn't normally be able to solve the entire room on their own, which is exactly why they work so well as a family activity.

Bring the whole family and leave no one behind—no babysitter needed.

We even have coloring books available for little ones if they want to relax while others play.

What if we’ve never done an escape room before?

Perfect—we LOVE first-timers.

You do not need experience. I personally guide your adventure and provide clues when needed.

My goal isn't to watch you struggle—it's to make sure you have fun. And honestly... I really don't want to have to feed you if you get trapped forever!

Do we really get clues?

YES.  My clues are not one-size-fits-all.

Every group solves differently, so I tailor clues based on what YOUR team needs. Some groups need a tiny nudge, some need a bigger hint—and some surprise themselves and barely need me at all.

How long does the experience last?

You have 60 minutes to complete your mission.

Please arrive on time—not too early. You don't want to accidentally overhear the group ahead of you finishing their adventure! If your room is available early, I'll message the person who booked. I know you're excited about your escape and sometimes just can't wait.

What are your hours?

Appointments are highly recommended.

Booking times begin at 11:30 AM, with our last room starting at 9:00 PM.

Are you always open during these hours?

Booking times are available from 11:30 AM through our last room starting at 9:00 PM.

We are primarily appointment-based, so we may not always be physically on site when there isn't a booking.

If a time says “Call to Book,” we're accepting bookings for that time but may not currently be on site.

Give us a call (409)465-9499 and we'll be happy to help.

Can we book same day?

Yes—if availability allows.  Walk-ins are welcome, but because we only have two rooms, booking ahead is strongly recommended.

I hate telling people:  “I’m sorry you drove all this way but the next room is available in 3 hours… or maybe tomorrow.”

How much does it cost?

  • Ages 13+$25

  • Ages 8–12$20

  • Ages 7 and underFREE

Affordable family fun for all ages.

Is there an age limit?

No. Our rooms are designed for all ages.  We recommend ages 8+ for full puzzle participation. Younger players, especially those 6 & 7 yr olds are surprisingly good at this, and still enjoy helping and exploring.

Children 12 and under must have an adult participating with them.

Children up to 16 years old must have adult supervision on site.

How many people can play?

Suggested room sizes:

Escape the Shipwreck — up to 8 players
Code Red Rescue — up to 10 players

Larger group?  No problem—we can split groups between rooms or stagger start times, maybe even a challenge between groups.

Is it scary or physically demanding?

No horror here.  Our rooms focus on fun, adventure, teamwork, and puzzles—not jump scares.

Some movement and searching is involved, but nothing extreme.

Is the escape room wheelchair accessible?

Yes.  Our building is wheelchair accessible.  Please let us know ahead of time if accommodations are needed. There are elements we can adjust, some we can not, to make sure everyone can participate as much as possible.

What should I bring?

Just bring yourself, your team, and a willingness to have fun.  No special skills needed.

We suggest comfortable clothes and leaving phones outside the room so you can fully immerse yourself in the experience.

Trust us—you won’t miss them.

Sign at Bolivar Escape Room listing items you do not need like phones and purses and items you may need like glasses, brain, and group. The sign encourages teamwork for an adventure.
